THE WEDDING BANQUET (MT/22:1-14) In Matthew 22:1-14, we read the parable of the wedding banquet where the invitees missed out the banquet simply because they made no preparations whatsoever to attend the event. From the parable of banquet, we can highlight certain traits of people who are not prepared for the Lord. 1 the priorities are not in order We see in the parable that God wasn’t the first priority in the lives of those who did not attend the banquet. Their business, work, marriage and family life were more important for them than being with God. God wasn’t ranked as number one on their “to do” list. Other things and people take priority over god’s presence, god’s needs, god’s word, god’s will and god’s work. According to st.paul nothing is as important as knowing Christ, being with him and living for him (Philippine 3:8-10).
